Operazione Prometeo: aggiornamenti su Natascia dal carcere di Santa Maria Capua Vetere (aprile 2021)
Lo scorso 13 marzo Natascia è stata trasferita dalla sezione AS3 del carcere di Piacenza a quella del carcere di Santa Maria Capua Vetere. L’avvocato è stato avvertito dal carcere di arrivo. Dopo una decina di giorni di isolamento per quarantena, è stata trasferita in sezione in una cella che le stesse guardie chiamano “cubicolo”: una cella singola dove invece sono rinchiuse due persone, che con l’arrivo di Natascia sono diventate tre. A quanto pare, nel carcere di Santa Maria Capua Vetere il sovraffollamento è cronico.
Nonostante Natascia sia stata inserita in sezione, con lei non valgono le stesse regole che valgono con le altre detenute in AS3.
Non appena arrivata le hanno requisito i CD e il lettore e, nonostante le sue proteste, la situazione ad oggi è rimasta invariata.
La quantità di libri (una borsa) che Nat aveva con sé al suo arrivo nel carcere di S. Maria Capua Vetere pare che abbia messo in crisi le guardie al punto che si sono sentite in dovere di porre un tetto a quelli che può tenere in cella: all’inizio 2, quando Nat ha protestato che persino al 41 bis i libri concessi sono 4, l’hanno alzato, appunto, a 4.
Può chiamare i suoi genitori solo due volte al mese (da Piacenza poteva chiamarli due o tre volte alla settimana) e può fare alcune video-chiamate, ma al momento anche in questo a quanto pare ha delle limitazioni. Ha fatto domanda anche per fare i video colloqui con la compagna con cui faceva regolarmente i colloqui e i video-colloqui prima di essere trasferita a S. Maria Capua Vetere. Dopo un mese di istanze, invii di documenti, censimenti, rifiuti, garanti, nuove istanze e altri invii di documenti, il carcere si è degnato di concedere una sola ora di colloquio al mese con la compagna in questione: sebbene ci sia un permesso di colloquio permanente rilasciato dal giudice che la autorizza ai colloqui senza limitazioni (a Piacenza poteva fare con Natascia fino a tre colloqui al mese, e in seguito quattro video colloqui al mese di un’ora durante il lockdown), la direzione del carcere di S. Maria Capua Vetere è determinata a marciare sopra la decisione del tribunale affermando che “la discrezione del direttore del carcere è certa. Il giudice autorizza e il direttore stabilisce il numero consentito di colloqui”. A SUA DISCREZIONE. Attualmente l’avvocato ha fatto ricorso alla corte d’assise.
L’avvocato ha inoltre chiesto il trasferimento di Natascia per riavvicinamento territoriale. L’istanza è stata rigettata a causa di una fantasiosa formalità.
Per non farsi mancare nulla, forse a causa dello stesso principio di discrezionalità che regola in modo particolare questo carcere, i pacchi destinati a Natascia vengono aperti dalle guardie in sua assenza, trattenendo ciò che decidono di trattenere senza che né Natascia, né chi manda i pacchi possano essere in grado di sapere realmente che fine abbia fatto ciò che non è stato consegnato.
Sebbene appaia abbastanza chiaro il carattere punitivo di questo trasferimento, Natascia sta bene ed è combattiva come sempre: continuiamo a sostenerla!
Lunedì 10 maggio 2021, presso il tribunale di Genova, comincerà il dibattimento del processo Prometeo che vede imputati Natascia, Beppe e Robert. Le udienze avranno luogo nei giorni di lunedì e martedì di ogni settimana del mese di maggio (fino a martedì 1 giugno). L’1 e il 2 luglio avranno luogo la requisitoria del pm Manotti e le repliche degli avvocati e, fra luglio e settembre, è prevista la sentenza di primo grado.

Prometeo Operation: updates on Natascia from Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison (Italy, April 2021)
On March 13, 2021, Natascia was transferred from the AS3 (“Alta Sorveglianza 3”, High Surveillance 3) section of the Piacenza prison to that of Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. The lawyer was notified by the arrival prison. After about ten days in solitary confinement for quarantine, she was transferred to the section in a cell that the guards themselves call a “cubicle”: a single cell where two people are locked up, which became three with Natascia’s arrival. Apparently, overcrowding is chronic in the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
Although Natascia has been placed in the section, the same rules do not apply to her as to the other inmates in AS3.
As soon as she arrived, they requisitioned her CDs and CD player and, despite her protests, the situation has remained unchanged to date.
The amount of books (one bag) Natascia had with her when she arrived at the S. Maria Capua Vetere prison seems to have put the guards in such a crisis that they felt obliged to put a ceiling on the number of books she can keep in her cell: at the beginning two, when Natascia protested that even at 41 bis [the most restrictive and afflictive detention circuit in Italian prisons] the books allowed are four, they raised it to four.
She can only call his parents twice a month (from Piacenza she could call them two or three times a week) and she can make some video calls, but at the moment she seems to have limitations in this too. She also applied to do video calls with a comrade, with whom she used to do regular visits and video calls before being transferred to S. Maria Capua Vetere. After a month of applications, sending of documents, censuses, refusals, guarantors, new applications and further sending of documents, the prison deigned to grant her only one hour of interview per month with the comrade in question: although there is a permanent visit permit issued by the judge authorising her to have unrestricted visits (in Piacenza she could have up to three visits per month with Natascia, and later four one-hour video calls per month during the lockdown), the direction of the S. Maria Capua Vetere prison is determined to ignore the court’s decision completely, stating that “the discretion of the prison director is certain. The judge authorises and the director establishes the allowed number of interviews”. AT HIS DISCRETION. Currently the lawyer has appealed to the assize court.
The lawyer also applied for Natascia’s transfer on the grounds of territorial rapprochement. The application was rejected on grounds of fanciful formality.
To make matters worse, perhaps because of the same principle of discretion that particularly governs this prison, the parcels intended for Natascia are opened by the guards in her absence, keeping what they decide to keep without either Natascia or the sender of the parcels really being able to know what has happened to what has not been delivered.
Although the punitive nature of this transfer seems quite clear, Natascia is doing well and is as combative as ever: let’s keep supporting her!
On Monday, May 10, 2021, the “Prometeo” (Prometheus) trial in which Natascia, Beppe and Robert are the defendants will start at the court of Genoa. The hearings will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week in May (until Tuesday, June 1). On 1 and 2 July, prosecutor Manotti will deliver his indictment and the lawyers will present their rebuttals, and the first-degree verdict is expected between July and September.
